Intelius Succeeds in Web-based Data Niche
Although the unemployment rate seems to be difficult at present, there are still companies that are developing since they supply indispensable and quality services and/or products.
One such company is Intelius Inc. The Eastside-based company, which offers records searches and background checks, announced that it was increasing its base in Bothell to accommodate development. Intelius has job offerings on both the technology and sales departments, according to its chief financial officer, Paul Cook. He also said that the corporation could hire about 40 employees this year.
Co-established by chief executive officer Naveen Jain, Intelius capitalizes on several web-related trends like social networking sites LinkedIn, Facebook and Classmates.com. These sites have elicited people’s interests in re-communicating with old associates and friends. Once their searches give them irrelevant results however, users turn to find their acquaintances using Intelius’ services.
Intelius too performs digital public records checks, enabling an employer, a parent or a landlord to screen individuals if they have criminal histories or offense records in their backgrounds.
Cook states that the main reason why Intelius is expanding is due to the people’s increasing comfort and trust level in using their credit cards and purchasing products and services online.
“That is maybe the main tailwind that moves our growth at this point,” says Cook.
Cook says that another Internet-related trend is the increase in e-commerce that has provided growth to Intellius’ identity security assistances, since more consumers find it essential in administering their online profiles.
He warns that the market may change but adds Intellius is determined for development, like it has been for a time.
“It provides us an opportunity to build infrastructure and brace for when the economy does start to pick up again,” Cook further adds.
