1. Bitter Orange has been shown in some studies to be associated with weight loss, increased thermogenesis, metabolism and loss of fat mass. The results of some of these studies are questioned by some authorities;

2. Documented reports are starting to come in of cardiovascular events occurring associated with the use of products containing bitter orange (citrus aurantium, zhi-shi or whatever you want to call it);

3. The two major components of bitter orange are synephrine and octopomine. Synephrine is structurally similar to the ephedra extract which is now banned in many countries due to its adverse side effects and synephrine has been shown to cause cardiovascular events in animals.

So why are people still using it. It is easy to make the conclusion that they are unaware of it’s ingredients and their effects, however, this is perhaps naive. The parrot is going to try and bite you no matter what, as a natural act of self preservation. Instead of trying to stop him from biting you, utilize his current behavior and encourage it. Wear something to protect your fingers, and invite the parrot to bite you.

Welcoming and utilizing the parrot’s current behavior even if it is violent, is very much in the spirit of Aikido and Ericksonian Hypnosis.

In Ericksonian Hypnosis you utilize the client’s “bad” behavior and join with and validate their current model of the world, rather than trying to change the client and give him the message he is doing something wrong.

In Aikido when you encourage your counterpart to express themselves physically, and they attack you, they are actually following your directions, and doing what you have asked. At such times the attack becomes definitely less violent, as the attacker unconsciously realizes that on a deep level they are cooperating with you.

Whether the activity be Aikido training or parrot training, when you welcome the attack, the attack winds up being a lot less vicious.

2. Encourage violence and tenderness at the same time.
Leave your finger in the cage and encourage the parrot to gnaw on it. With your free hand gently rub the parrot’s head much like you might do with a dog or cat. When you and the parrot are tender and violent at the same time, you are beginning to engage in the act of play.

3. Reward the negative behavior and thus reframe the meaning of the behavior.
When you reward the “bad” behavior, the behavior is no longer bad. The parrot bites your right hand and you reward him by giving a snack with your left hand. The relationship is circular in nature. It doesn’t take long before the parrot loses his enthusiasm for biting you. He still very much wants the snacks you feed him after each attack, but he would rather not have to do all of the biting to get the goodies.

4. Blur the starting and stopping points, blur the difference between good and bad.
The parrot has been biting one hand and you have been nuzzling the parrot and feeding him with your other hand. Now take the hand that has been doing the nuzzling and feeding and present it to the parrot for biting. When the parrot takes a playful nip, you nuzzle him with the hand he was previously gnawing on.

When you encourage the parrot to bite the hand that feeds him! His confusion will be obvious.

5. Change the reason for the reward.
After the “break in” period you only give a snack when the parrot is gentle and playful. Little by little you thus change the reference behavior for getting the snack. Usually at this stage, anyone that moves slowly can play with the parrot with little concern about getting bitten.

I have found the above method, to be by far the fastest, easiest, and most humane way to tame a parrot, and calm down children that appear to have a violent streak.

It is well and truly new, consecrating invasion, aggression and ethnic purge as acceptable international conduct.” In the words of Dr. Walker Percy, we have been in “a state of suspended animation” since World War I. It is no wonder that Helmut Schmidt, former German Chancellor said, “we have never governed [the world] in total peace.”

Now, the threat of a nuclear ‘Armageddon’ is more imminent. (The Doomsday clock is getting closer to midnight.) The once frightened ‘terrorists’ are out from their hideouts and are plotting the end of the world. And despite two prayers for peace at Assissi Italy (never mind the pope and his prayerful multitudes), twelve wars are going on around the world this hour. It is for this reason that ‘The Daily Yomiuri’ says that “the balance between peace and war is becoming ever more precarious.”

But it seems that all of us drank the waters of River Lethe and suddenly forgot the past. Hear this earlier statement of George Bush: “The new world could, in time be as menacing as the old.” Where then is the peace that Reagan brought to the world? Contradiction most foul! I did not however forget everything when I drank that water of oblivion. Because I know that there is no peace in the world but pieces of peace. (No pun intended.)

I could dare any living man the poison of my pen. But not the dead. Because I do not want a poor poet who does not know his lines to indite an inglorious epitaph on my tombstone when I too pass to the great beyond. (I want to write a book titled “The Praise Singers.”) What amazes me however is the transience of power and the vanity of life. Today a great ruler is ordering the sacking of a sovereign nation, and the next day he is gone. Like a mist. Or sparrow.

Here I am reminded of the great king, Oxymandias, who ruled a mighty empire. The mention of his name made his subjects and people of surrounding lands shiver. In order to affirm his supremacy on minions, King Oxymandias had his great statute erected on a busy trade route for all passersby and posted these words below: “This is Oxymandias. Lord of lords and king of kings.” So, lily-livered men would pass and gaze in awe at the gigantic image of Oxymandias from a safe distance. But after many years, the mighty king answered the call to glory and his great image collapsed from the effect of the elements leaving only a pair of impotent legs. When lesser mortals who had dreaded this image passed along the road, they now ventured close and mocked at the pair of legs above the inscription that reads: “This is Oxymandias. Lord of lords and king of kings.”
But accursed is he that mocks the dead. Because death is tolling his unwelcome bell at his door. The American humorist Mark Twain said it all: “In this world nothing is certain than death and taxes.” The good thing about death is that the dead pays no tax. (Sorry, some Church priests tax the dead.)

So the best thing about dying is that the dead is free from terrorist attacks. If therefore Ronald Reagan waged war against violence (or was violent) because he feared the evil when he was alive, he does not need to worry about terror anymore. As to whether he was a hero or villain, leave History—or Posterity—to judge. The words of American statesman, Patrick Henry, however make me uncomfortable. He said: “I know not of a better way to judge the future than by the present.” So is the world peaceful today? Or is it still at war?

I am not a composer of verses. But I venture these lines for the former president:

Sleep well the great communicator
Sleep well lord of lords and king of kings
My dear cowboy, sleep well
Our beloved Ronnie Reagan, sleep well

When I used to sit down to pay my bills I used to have a feeling of being overwhelmed. I dreaded paying bills each month. I always felt like there never was enough and according to the law of attraction guess what there never was enough. But that has all changed for me. I did a lot praying around this issue and this time of the month and the prayers were answered.
Now first of all I set up most of my bills to be paid online so it is a very quick process. It used to take me all day to pay my bills now I am like the lady on the TV ads I just go click, click and they are paid. This opens up a lot of time for me. It also frees me from hours of crying over not having enough money to pay my bills. I also made a budget now that is not a negative thing. A budget can just be a framework to see where you are so you can see where you want to go. I bought a program that showed me how to pay off all my bills in five to seven years including my house that excites me and gives me a goal. I also got some counseling along with this program I bought and my counselor said, “Why do you want to be debt free.” Now I had not thought that one out and at the time I could only say to him that I wanted the freedom of not owing anyone. But he got me thinking, what was I going to do with this freedom. Well, for one thing I want to be able to live anywhere I want to without the strings of having to stay in one place. I want to build an income so I can work from home and not have to be tied to a job. What has all this got to do with bill paying. Well, it gave me a whole new attitude about bill paying. I am excited now because I have a plan. I have a long term goal. So bill paying is a joy not a pain. It is quick, it getting me to my long term goals, and I am excited about my goals and paying my bills.
I also found some wonderful spiritual tools to help lighten the load of bill paying.
I am now grateful that all these people who I owe have trusted me enough to extend me credit and furnish all the wonderful things that I have including my home in advance to my paying them for it.
I write on each bill as it comes in this bill is now paid in full in God’s own wonderful way. I just write it on the outside of the envelope. Expectation is everything when I expect the bills to be paid they are paid. It is so grand.
When I write my checks I see the money flowing out from my account and coming back to me ten fold. Energy is meant to flow. I believe as I give so I will receive and I am paying my bills and the money is flowing back to me ten fold. There is always enough money to not only pay my bills but to spare and to share.
See your bank account, your purse, your home, all filled to overflowing with the abundant prosperity that the Universe has promised us all. We only have to look around in nature to see this abundance. You are loved and adored, the rich children of a rich God/dess. Claim what is yours, see yourself having it now.
I now pay bills gladly, knowing that my money helps to support other people who in turn provide services for me. If something breaks, I write a check and get it fixed without further concern. Free from cycles of scarcity, my attention can ascend to higher levels of awareness and experience.
Money is neither god nor devil,
but a form of energy.

Now I always have been a giver but I had to look at the fact I was not a very good receiver. Giving put me always in control to receive I had to let someone else be in control. Now I am learning to bring joy to my bill paying experience and that is what it is all about. If I want to have abundance I need to raise my vibration to that of joyful abundance.
