Cordyceps exterminates weariness and other illnesses. It has been in use by Chinese medicine doctors for thousands of years and is a type of mushroom grown on Tibetan caterpillars. Cordyceps is comprised of a great diversity of essential constituents, like alkenoic acids, cordycepin, polysaccharides, sterols, and ophiocordin.
There are quite a number scientific observations, which uphold the effectiveness of cordyceps, against kidney, liver and immune system problems. There are a number of reports, which say cordyceps having immuno-enhancing, anti-cancer, and anti-oxidizing effects. In primeval China, cordyceps was considered to have properties like that of ginsing. It aided in removal of opium addiction, tiredness, neurasthenia, and backache.
There are a lot of drug stores in large cities, which provide the cordyceps fungus along with the caterpillar to their customers. However US chemist’s shops suggest taking the cordyceps tablet, which are readily available in food shops. These pills are much more affordable than their organic counterparts and do not have the danger of lead poisoning, which are highly predominant in caterpillar-grown cordyceps.
Cordyceps has an wide history of application as nutrients and most of the time regarded as harmless. No definitive study exists to demonstrate its safety for troubles of children’s use, lactation or pregnancy. Researchers remark that it modulates the immune system, enhances the condition of the liver, reduces blood pressure, and inhibits tumor growth. It comes in handy for increasing staying power, recommending general health, and escalating testosterone levels.
In humans high insulin sensitivity has been presented, this is possible because of the presence of polysaccharide existing in cordyceps, which reduces blood sugar. Those with low blood sugar should take cordyceps with a lot of care. Cordyceps has the inclination to both minimize wearniness and increase physical endurance. In addition it also boosts testosterone levels, the basis of which has been noticed in multiple in-vitro fertilization reports.

The most common definition of a betting house is a house that features gambling. Here, clients will hopefully test their luck by challenging the slot machines or trying out alternative wagers. Betting saloon games most often include numerically determined chances built in that maintain that the gaming establishment secures dominion against the gambling aficionados. online casino bonus codes

A huge number of casino games can sway you into getting far too infatuated speedily. You have the time-honored slotmachine, a coin operated machine with 3, sometimes more gears that spin when an arm on the side is yanked. The machine customarily pays out in accordance with a sequence of images observable on the display of the machine. Lamentably, casino games tend to convey the false impression of being in full control, thereby hoodwinking the gambling aficionado — the participant is challenged with make options, but in actual fact these don’t truly level the player’s longterm handicap. That is brought about by the the gambling saloongambling house never paying the full stake as hoped for. This systematic arrangement is regularly seen at work in acclaimed casino games such as Texas hold’em, craps, roulette or blackjack.

Poker is a very an immensely fashionable casino game. The gambling aficionados, holding fully concealed cards, will bet into a principal pot that is given to the prevailing punter bearing the winning combination of cards. (Of course, the best bluff may well prevail as well!) Not far removed from straight poker, blackjack too is an incredibly popular casino game. A considerable chunk of its notoriety is due to its peculiar mix of chance and ingenuity and choice making, not to forget a practise titled Card Counting. The aforementioned is a particularly demanding strategy by which visitors may dramatically turn the winning odds of the game to give them an advantage both by betting and procedural opetations correlating with the cards shown.

Craps is yet another well-known gambling hall game where you predict the roll of dice. Bettors can place bets on the score of one cycle, or on a string of spins on two dice. Dissimilar to blackjack, there can’t be a easily available bona fide winning tactics you could employ to improve the odds.

Roulette is another extremely popular gambling pastime in which a croupier will twirl a roulette wheel which encloses precisely thirtyseven (French roulette) or thirty eight (as applicable to Vegas roulette) differently numbered slots in which a white pellet will come to settle, which establishes the winner as well as the respective sequences. If the gamester has put money on any given number and hits it in other words it’s their lucky day, the guaranteed repayment is 35:1, the stake proper will be paid out. Accordingly in totality it’s increased by a factor of 36.

So be watchful nonetheless as these casino games of chance are definitely obsessive. Innumerable lives may well have been damaged through uncontrolled gambling & whereas it indisputably seems entertaining, do aspire to control yourself.

Green tea has been highly valued in Asia for centuries for it’s medical properties. In the recent years green tea benefits caught the attention of western scientists. Alongside with confirming many of the green tea benefits scientists indicated that green tea can also help you lose weight.

During their research they’ve made an amazing discovery. Even though green tea did contain caffeine it have not change the energy expenditure nor it have significantly change a heart rate.

That led to a conclusion that green tea helps to lose weight naturally and safely. In this respect, green tea or green tea extract is different from most of the prescription drugs for obesity or herbal products like ephedra, which can raise heart rates and blood pressure, and are not recommended for many individuals sensitive to stimulants.

The secret of such influence on the body lays in high concentrations of catechin polyphenols. These compounds work with other chemicals to intensify levels of fat oxidation and thermogenesis, where heat is created in the body by burning fuels such as fat. Green tea causes carbohydrates to be released slowly.

This prevents sharp increases of insulin in your blood (insulin stimulates the transformation of fatty acids into fat molecules which are stored as fat droplets). As the result fat is burned faster without being “locked” in the fat sells. I want you to remember that even a small effect can go a long way when you are dealing with your metabolism. For example, just by drinking one cup of tea a day or by taking green tea extract in the form of supplement you will burn about an extra 78 calories. This adds up to over 28,000 calories in a year. Which is about 8 extra pounds of weight.

There is also clear evidence that green tea’s polyphenols (EGCG) helps depressing leptin (a protein produced by fats that plays an important role in how the body manages fat storage through brain signals). Lower leptin levels decrease the appetite. It means that you will get that “I’m full!” felling faster and as a result consume less food.

It is quite certain that green tea is now holding promise in various areas of weight loss. Drink a cup of your favorite green tea every day and lose those extra pounds easier and faster. Good luck!

Like most single women who are dating, I’m sure you’ll want to avoid getting involved with a man who’s likely to cheat. After all, he could one day break your heart. But according to statistics, an estimated 50 to 70 percent of men cheat on their mates. How can you tell if the man you’re dating is one of these potential cheaters? Wouldn’t it be great to have this information about him before you get too deeply involved?

Find out If He’s Prone to Infidelity

Finding out whether or not the man you’re dating is prone to infidelity is much easier than you think. Studies reveal that some men are more likely to cheat than others because of their background, their past history, or certain character traits. Using this information, I’ve designed a 7 question quiz that can help you determine if the man you’re dating is a potential cheater.

Single Women Screen Dates with this Quiz

The Potential Cheaters Quiz was originally posted on my website http://www.InfidelityAdvice.com to help married women find out if their husbands are potential cheaters. However numerous single women report that they’re using the quiz to screen the men they meet at dating sites, and through dating services and personal ads.

Decide Who Not to Date

The Potential Cheaters quiz can help you make an informed decision about whether or not to continue dating a man, or how deeply to get involved. By identifying and avoiding the potential cheaters in the dating pool, you can save yourself a lot of unnecessary headaches and heartaches.

Rate Your Date with the Potential Cheaters Quiz

So before you fall head-over-heels in love or get too attached to that new man in your life, rate your date’s cheating potential with the 7 questions below:

Potential Cheaters Quiz

1.Does he thrive on adventure?

2.Did he have a great deal of sexual experience prior to your relationship?

3.Does he have lots of female friends?

4.Does he have male friends who are cheating on their wives or girlfriends?

5.Does he have a parent who cheated?

6.Did he cheat in any of his past relationships?

7.Does he feel that infidelity is really no big deal?

What the Answers Mean:

1.Some men enjoy all the suspense, deception and intrigue that go along with infidelity. They’ll cheat just for the “thrill of the chase.”

2.Studies reveal that men who were extremely sexually active before settling down in a committed relationship are more apt to engage in sex outside that relationship. Don’t expect a leopard to change his spots.

3.Close friendships with women are a common starting point for infidelity. Friends can quickly turn into lovers. The closer the friendship, the greater the odds that it will develop into an affair.

4.Never underestimate the power of peer pressure. If his friends are cheating, he’ll soon be cheating too.

5.Infidelity tends to run in families. Children of unfaithful parents are often programmed to follow in their footsteps, considering infidelity to be the norm.

6.”Once a cheater, always a cheater.” There are exceptions, but statistically speaking, if he cheated once, he’s more apt to do it again. His history will probably repeat itself.

7.If he doesn’t believe that infidelity is wrong, his behavior will reflect his beliefs.

How to Evaluate Your Results

Generally speaking, the more ‘yes’ answers, the greater the likelihood that this man will cheat. But some answers carry more weight than others, so you’ll want to take a closer look at the results.

If you answered yes to #1, #2, or #5 (but not all three), he’s a POTENTIAL CHEATER who may very well cheat on you if the opportunity presents itself. If you decide to get involved with him, you need to make it difficult for him to cheat. Familiarize yourself with the signs of infidelity, so you’ll know if he starts to stray.

If you answered yes to #3 or #4 alone, together, or in combination with #1 or #2, he’s a COMMON “GARDEN-VARIETY” CHEATER who will cheat if he feels he can do so without getting caught. Your challenge, if you insist on dating him, is to stay one step ahead of him by learning to recognize the early warning signs. If you know how to spot the signs of impending infidelity, you may be able to stop his cheating before it starts, or leave before he breaks your heart. Familiarize yourself with the 21 major categories of telltale signs.

If you answered yes to #6 alone or in combination with #1,#2, #3, #4, or #5 you’re dealing with an EXPERIENCED CHEATER who knows how to hide the obvious signs of infidelity. The most important thing to do if you’re dating this man is learn to spot the subtle signs of infidelity, because these are the signs that will inevitably give him away. Get a good infidelity reference guide, watch him like a hawk, and try not to get too deeply involved.

If you answered yes to #7 alone ( This one’s the biggie!) or in combination with any others, you’ve got a HARD-CORE, HABITUAL CHEATER on your hands who’s probably already having an affair. (You could unknowingly be the Other Woman.) For this man, cheating is a way of life. If you don’t want to become an infidelity statistic, leave this man alone. Should you decide to take on this challenge, you’re in serious trouble if you don’t know how to spot the subtle signs of infidelity. Forget about watching for the usual signs of cheating. This man is an expert at covering his tracks. The best thing you can do is become adept at spotting the subtle signs of infidelity, since there won’t be any obvious signs to give him away. The subtle signs are the ones he won’t even think to cover up. Get the best infidelity reference book you can find to help you recognize these subtle signs. Invest in a copy of Is He Cheating on You? - 829 Telltale Signs which lists practically every known sign of infidelity ( http://www.Is-He-Cheating-On-You.com ) and keep it handy at all times.

How to Deal With a Potential Cheater

If you’re already dating a potential cheater, or thinking about dating one, you need to know what to do. Even if you only had one yes answer on the Potential Cheater’s Quiz, there’s still cause for concern. However, there are precautions you can take. My special report, “How to Handle a Potential Cheater, gives you several successful strategies to use. To receive your FREE copy of this special report which normally sells for $7, send an e-mail to: InfidelityAdvice@gmail.com with the words “Potential Cheater Report” in the subject line.

by Neal Walters. In 1990, I was planning a trip to Israel, but it got postponed due to Desert Storm and the Gulf War. I finally go on a tour trip of Israel in 1996. But in the late 80s, in Oklahoma, before the internet, how does one begin to learn Hebrew? That was in the dark ages before internet. Audio Forum had a language catalog, and I learned about the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) courses. These courses were created by the US government, and used to teach either military or diplomats. Although the FSI course came with about 24 tapes, I still have never completed it. The type-style is ugly, and the course was clearly not made for self-study, but instead was made to be taught in a classroom environment. Back then, Borders was building it’s first huge book stores in large cities. On a business trip, I visited one, and found a small selection of Hebrew books not normally found in other bookstores. The book that helped me master the alphabet was a “reader” that was full of practice exercises of reading short two to four letter syllables or words. I began learning more and more prayer book Hebrew by attending synagogue. Each week, certain tunes would stick in my mind, and I would go home and try to learn the words to go with the tune. Music and singing definitely helps with the memorization. To learn more Biblical Hebrew, I used Mansoor’s book, “Biblical Hebrew: Step by Step”. After that, a friend was teaching Biblical Hebrew to a small group, using Weingreen’s “A Practical Grammar for Classical Hebrew”. This is another book that would be hard to pick up and learn on your own. By completing one lesson every week or two, we finished the book in about two years. To really know Hebrew, one must study both Biblical and Modern. I remember using two short courses that were books that came with 3 or 4 cassette tapes: “Hugo Language Course: Hebrew in Three Months” and also Eliezar Tirkel’s “Every Hebrew”. I found that I liked the Hugo course slightly better, but learned something from each. In 2005, I registered for Hebrew IV and V via an online course offered by Hebrew College in Boston. It used the text “Hebrew From Scratch - Part II” (with 5 CDs available). Even though I audited the course, it was required to submit homework weekly, and meet with our teacher online for about 45 minutes per week. Later, I went on to take other classes, which include an introduction to Aramaic via the Talmud, and classes that required reading Medieval Hebrew (such as aggadic literature). Unfortunately, I still can’t speak Hebrew as well as I would like. My journey is still continuing. By creating software, and teaching others, I continue to learn each and every day. You can too learn Hebrew faster and easier with the multimedia Hebrew courses created by Neal Walters.

Much has been said and written about modern day hair loss treatments but this tends to relate almost exclusively to men. Do these same treatments offer solutions to women suffering from hair loss or is there a completely different category of remedies available? It really depends on what is causing hair loss in the first place and as the most common causes of hair loss are the same as those that affect men, the treatments available are pretty similar.

In an earlier article we concluded that the three most common causes of hair loss in women are female pattern baldness, telogen effluvium and alopecia areata. We’ll now look at each of these in turn and examine the best treatments available, bearing in mind the specific needs of women:

1. Treatments for female pattern baldness.

In most instances minoxidil (Rogaine) is the first treatment used. This is one of only two FDA approved hair loss treatments and it remains the only one approved for use by women. Minoxidil comes in the form of a topical solution that works by tackling the symptoms of hair loss and helping to generate new hair growth. It does not target the causes of hair loss and will not work for everyone. The women’s version of minoxidil is a 2% solution but the 5% version marketed for men can be used if necessary.

The most popular drug for treating male pattern baldness is of course finasteride (Propecia). Women of child bearing age should not use this drug due to the severely damaging effects it can have on unborn male fetuses. Any women considering using Propecia should discuss it first with their physician. In some cases your doctor may prescribe a different androgen blocker called spironolactone as a means of stopping the hormone activity that is causing hair loss. Spironolactone is normally used as a diuretic and results may be variable.

There is a bewildering range of commercial products available, most of which are aimed squarely at men but many are also suitable for women to use. Whether they work or not is another question but some products containing ingredients like saw palmetto, stinging nettle, pygeum and green tea have shown their value. You can find out more about these and other poential hair loss solutions by visiting the site listed at the end of this article.

2. Treatments for telogen effluvium

This is a hair loss condition that generally does not require any specific treatment. Once the effects of the trauma that caused hair loss in the first place have subsided, the hair will regrow of its own accord. Some patients like to encourage the regrowth process by using minoxidil but this isn’t necessary. Implementing a good nutritional regime and supplementing with B-vitamins may help to create a hair friendly environment.

3. Treatments for alopecia areata.

This is another hair loss condition that may resolve itself spontaneously. In some cases one of the following treatments may prove useful:

  • Daily application of minoxidil (Rogaine).

  • Injection of cortisone into patchy areas of the scalp (this must be administered by a physician). Creams and lotions containing cortisone can also be used but results are variable.

  • Dithranol can be applied to the scalp in mild or early cases.

  • Application of 100% aloe vera gel.

  • Massage the scalp with rosemary and lavender essential oils in a jojoba base.

  • Use of a hair loss product containing the Chinese herb He Shou Wu.

  • A product called Calosol has recently generated positive feedback.

Please note, however, that none of these is guaranteed to work due to the unpredictable nature of alopecia areata. It is this uncertainty that offers opportunities for scamsters to make outlandish claims. The fact remains, there are no miracle cures for advanced forms of alopecia areata so sufferers may wish to consider other options such as head coverings and wigs.

This does not mean that patients are without hope because, even in severe cases, hair can spontaneously start to grow again even after years of loss.

Fitness + Training24 Jan 2009 09:59 pm

There seems to be much confusion amongst trainers and trainees as to
whether squats should be performed all the way down or just half way.
In most gyms today, a common instruction during squats, deadlifts, and
lunges (as taught by many personal training organizations) is not to
allow the knees to travel beyond the toes. Doing so will ultimately cause
the destruction of your knees! I do not agree. There are certain instances
where partial range of motion (ROM) is indicated, but for the most part, I
teach people the full squat for the following reasons:

* It is the most primitive movement pattern known to man; our ancestors
used to perform many daily functions (i.e. harvesting, gathering, hunting,
cooking, eating, etc.) in a full squat position.

* Also, in case anyone hasn’t noticed, we spend 40 weeks in the fetal
position (which is basically a full squat) prior to entering this world - do
we come out with bad knees?

* We should strive to train in full ROM for each and every exercise. The
squat is no exception.

* Every exercise produces stress around a joint - the body then adapts
to this stress.

* Cocontraction of the quadriceps, hamstrings and gastrocnemius
maintains integrity around the knee joint.

* Sheering and compressive forces do occur around the knee joint (as
opposed to only sheering forces that occur in some open kinetic chain
lower body exercises, such as the leg extension); however, the large
contact area of the patella with the femoral groove (as knee flexion
increases during the full squat) helps to dissipate compressive forces.

* Therefore, not only is the squat - as a closed chain exercise -
considered a natural movement pattern with high functional carryover,
but it is also a safe exercise if performed correctly (and that includes full
ROM!)

* Drawer tests are performed at a knee angle of 90 degrees because
there is a greater amount of laxity in the knee joint at that specific angle.
So, does it make sense to only go down half way where you are most
vulnerable especially when greater loads can be used (because you
are much stronger in this partial ROM?)

* According to Ironman contributor, George Turner, the fulcrum moves to
the knee joint in a parallel squat as opposed to the muscle belly of the
quadriceps in a full squat.

* Think about it, if you constantly trained in a limited ROM, the likelihood
of injury increases if one day you happen to squat beyond your trained
ROM.

* Partial squats performed on a regular basis will decrease flexibility.

* There is a low incidence of lower back pain and knee injury in
Aboriginal and Oriental societies which perform full squats on a regular
basis.

* Even Olympic weight lifters who practice full squats have quite healthy
knees compared to other athletes.

* Although you may find some research that indicates full squats as
potentially harmful to the knees, only one study has ever proved this to
be true. However, it was performed on a skeleton - the same results do
not hold true with surrounding connective tissue. On the other hand,
numerous studies show the benefits of full squats.

Unfortunately, many personal training certification courses are teaching
half squats as a safe version suitable for all individuals and this has now
become written in stone. God forbid that you deviate from this golden
rule to do something that our bodies are meant to do! Read this
carefully: squatting should be performed in a full ROM where the
hamstrings make contact with the calves (so that no light can be seen
passing through your legs at the bottom position.) It is okay for your
knees to travel beyond the toes (just do not relax the knees in the bottom
position.) In other words, keep the legs tight and try to stay as upright as
possible throughout the exercise. So, next time some fitness instructor
approaches you in the gym and advises not to go deep while squatting
tell him/her that they don’t know squat!

Vitamin B is no small time player in the high stakes game of the beauty. Just take the case of pellagra for example. Pellagra is a life threatening skin disease characterized by dementia, diarrhea, and dermatitis that results from a niacin (B vitamin) deficiency. In the early 20th century in the United States pellagra plagued thousands of people in the South and Midwest. The condition was thought to be contagious until investigators discovered the underlying nutritional deficiency.

Even today, the importance of vitamin B is cultivating new roles in the world of beauty. Dermatologist Leslie Baumann, MD forecasts topical vitamin B and its multiple derivatives as key ingredients in future anti-aging products. For example, one derivative of the B vitamin niacin, nicotinamide, has been shown to improve the ability of the epidermis, the upper-most layer of the skin, to retain moisture. One study reports that topical nicotinamide, when applied to the skin for six days reveals softer, smoother skin with less dryness and flakiness, and a reduction of fine lines. Even more promising is its anti-cancer influences. For instance, when applied to mouse skin, topical nicotinamide produced a 70 percent decrease in ultraviolet-induced skin cancer.

Niacinamide, another byproduct of vitamin B, serves as an effective skin-lightening agent. In one clinical investigation, patients with hyperpigmentation applied a moisturizer containing five percent niacinamide. Four weeks later, computer analysis of the hyperpigmentation and skin color revealed a decrease in hyperpigmentation along with an increase in skin lightness. Topical niacinamide also exhibits anti-inflammatory properties, which makes it a potential treatment for acne, rosacea and any blistering-type disease.

Dermatologist Zoe Diana Draelos, MD, clinical associate professor of dermatology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, N.C. is confident that praise for the therapeutic effects of niacinamide will continue to rise. Dr. Draelos hails, “Already, topical 4% niacinamide has been shown to be beneficial in the treatment of papular and pustular acne in a 4% gel, as well as the improvement of skin cancer and its anti-tumor characteristics”.

Dr. Baumann cautions that the many versions of one vitamin can be confusing and recommends speaking with your dermatologist to ensure you are selecting the right vitamin product for your skin care needs.

While it’s comforting to place a host of cosmetic aspirations in the latest beauty craze, Mother Nature’s wisdom will never lead you astray. If you can’t wait to get the benefits of B vitamins in your beauty cream, just go to your local market and help yourself to some chicken, tuna, potatoes, spinach, asparagus, black beans and watermelon. These are just of few of the foods providing bountiful servings of vitamin B. Remember, these scores of medical insights and promises started with a nutritional deficiency.

Fibromyalgia is a recently recognized disorder that is regarded as
a chronic condition associated with the experience of non-inflammatory
pain and tenderness in muscles, ligaments , joints and fatigue.
Fibromyalgia is a relatively common condition, estimated to affect
about four percent of the general population.
It is very similar to chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS); Only point of
difference is presence of musculoskeletal pain in fibromyalgia and
that of fatigue in CFS. Low level of Serotonin is considered to be
most important biochemical criteria. The primary treatment goals
should include raise serotonin levels, improve sleep quality, and
assure adequate magnesium levels.

Symptoms :
Generalized aches or stiffness at many sites for more than three months.
Generalized fatigue
Chronic headache including migraines
Sleep disorder, particularly timings of cycles
Neuronal and psychological complaints
Swelling
Numbness/ tingling sensations

Ayurvedic View :
It can be described as ‘Mansa Dhatugat and Mansavrut Vata’
Fibromyalgia is perceived as a Vata imbalance. Vata is the main imbalance
and Aggravated Vata destabilizes the nervous system and can create
hypersensitivity leading to pain and tenderness.
Accumulation of Ama (toxins) and shrotorodha are also contributory factors.

Ayurvedic Approach of Fibromyalgia and CFS Treatment

The aggravation of Vata dosha and accumulation of Ama (toxins) are
the primary causes and should be treated mainly. Associated weak digestion,
constipation, and effects of chronic stress should also be tackled.

Panchakarma Therapy
Pre-purification Measures namely ’snehan’ and ’swedan are very useful to
balance ‘Vata’ and to loosen the toxins. Snehan is the Herbalized Oil
Massage. This oil is applied to the entire body with a particular type of
massage. Swedan is sudation or sweating and is given immediately following
the snehan. An herbal concoction may be added to the steam to further
enhancement of effect.
Daily herbalized oil massage also provides a deeply soothing and balancing
effect to the entire nervous system. The motion of massage creates heat
and friction which enhances circulation and helps cleanse the areas of
chemical impurities that could be aggravating and hypersensitizing nerve tissues.

Diet and Nutrition

Following is the diet suggested for the patients suffering form Fibromyalgia and CFS
Vegetable juices and soups
Coconut water and Coconut milk
Juice of carrot, Cucumber, Beetroot
Cooked vegetables like squash, zucchini and pumpkin
Spices like cumin, coriander, ginger asafetida, garlic, fennel and turmeric.
Green salad with a dressing of lemon juice and a little salt
Khichadi (recipe made by cooking rice and mung dal, 1:1 or
1:2 proportion)

The patient of Fibromyalgia and CFS should avoid the following:
Eating hot, spicy and fried foods, sweets, foods
like brinjal, cabbage, Cauliflower, spinach, broccoli, okra and potatoes.
Too much tea, coffee, alcohol, white sugar, yogurt, chocolate, cocoa.
Sleeping during the day and staying up late at night
Mental tensions like worry, anxiety, fear, stress and grief.

Yoga for Stress Management and Improved Mental and Emotional Function:

It is well documented that fibromyalgia is often worsened by heightened
stress, anxiety and mental fatigue. There are hormonal changes and other
biochemical responses to stress that can aggravate the nervous system,
and the immune response. The sleep disturbance that is often created by
fibromyalgia symptoms increases fatigue which in turn increases one’s
susceptibility to stress which in turn aggravates the fibromyalgia condition.

Meditation,Yoga, Pranayama and studying of spiritual philosophy are all
recommended for supporting personal healing and relaxation of the mind.
Efforts should be made to increase the Sattvic quality of mind.

Yogasana : Various stretching exercises are known to have a positive effect on
fibromyalgia. Regular practicing of sets of different postures are helpful in
creating a healthy flexibility throughout the body. Yogic breathing practices
will also create a state of restful alertness in mind and body.
Progressive deep relaxation, i.e., shavasana (Corpse posture) brings about a
relaxed state of mind which prepares the individual for meditation.

Lifestyle and Daily Routine
One of the most important factors for balancing Vata and maintaining stability
in the nervous system is to have a lifestyle that does not disturb natural bodily
rhythms. When we eat, sleep and exercise in constantly fluctuating and
disturbing patterns, the body loses its natural balancing cycles. Therefore
regularity in our daily routine can be extremely effective in reducing Vata imbalances.

Ayurvedic Herbs:
- Decoction of the roots of ten herbs (Dashamularishtam) should be given in
the dose of 30 ml., twice daily.
- Daily use of the Ayurvedic compound ‘Triphala choorna’ is recommended
to cleanse the colon.
- Half a teaspoon of turmeric powder with warm water helps to reduce pain
and inflammation in Fibromyalgia. Dosage: twice a day
- Garlic is useful for detoxification and to enhance immune system function.
- Guggul is a very helpful herb for relief of pain.
- Licorice root supports the glandular system and acts in the body like cortisone,
but without the harmful side-effects. Caution: If overused, licorice can elevate
blood pressure. Do not use this herb on a daily basis for more than seven
days in a row. Avoid it if you have high blood pressure
- Ginger Tea. Ginger is a good alternative to aspirin to relieve minor aches and
pains. Steep 1 teaspoon of the grated root in 8 ounces of hot water for 10 minutes.
Strain. Add honey for taste, if you like. Alternatively, take 1 to 2 Grams of
powdered ginger a day with food.

Generic preparations available in market such as Dashamularishtam, Triphala guggul,
Maharasnadi Kwath, Vata Vidhwans Rasa etc. can be taken under the guidance
of a ayurvedic physician.

As I mentioned in an earlier article (”Photographing Jewelry for Online Auctions”), taking pictures of small items, such as bead jewelry, for eBay or other auction sites is not always easy. You have to use the proper lighting, keep objects in focus and chose the correct background that enhances the target without distorting its colors or detracting from it.

The smaller the item, the more difficult it can be to take good photos, as cameras might have difficulties focusing on such small targets. I was wrestling with a particularly tricky photo of earrings one day, when I came across the suggestion of using a scanner. I tried it it, and the results were great - very detailed images that preserved even the tiniest features of the object.

The only limitations I have found is that objects should not be too three-dimensional, as that can cause focus problems. Also, in some instances very shiny materials, such as silver, can cause distortions.

Another issue is the background - sometimes the white plastic of the scanner lid just won’t do. In this case, a simple sheet of construction paper (use pastel colors) might be the solution. As the thickness of the scanned object also raises the lid more than a sheet of paper would, you might want to cover the top of the scanner with opaque cloth to shut out stray outside light.

Scanners usually come with software that lets you set resolution, brightness, contrast and other parameters, as well as crop, flip and rotate the object. Play around with these settings until you achive the desired results.

What scanner should you get? There are reviews of scanners on many online sites, such as epinions.com. I personally like multifunction devices that also serve as printers and copiers (saves on desk space) and have achieved good results with the very inexpensive Hewlett-Packard PSC 1315.

While my experience has been primarily with jewelry, other types of items also lend themselves to scanning: books, photographs, coins, CD and DVD covers, etc. Scanners can thus be a real time-saver in preparing your auction pictures.
