What is your excuse for not being published? “I don’t know enough to fill a book.” “I don’t have time to write a whole book.” “It’s too hard to get an agent or publisher, and I don’t want to self publish.” None of these excuses apply to booklets. Anyone can write and publish an 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ booklet of 16 to 48 pages. Publishing a booklet is a good way to create an information product which will give you both credibility as an author and almost instant profits.

A few years ago, I was looking for a way to create a new income stream as well as to promote sales of my book, The Mystery Shopper’s Manual. I decided to create a 16-page booklet that would explain the basics of mystery shopping, and promoted it by sending copies of the booklet along with press releases to newspapers and magazines.

You can’t tell everything you know in a short booklet, so keep the topic narrowly focused. My booklet explained the basics of what mystery shopping is and how to get started. It had to give enough information that readers could become mystery shoppers with only what was in the booklet; however, people who wanted to know even more would be encouraged to buy the book.

Within a few months, with no advertising at all, I had sold thousands of dollars worth of booklets (at $5 each), and increased sales of The Mystery Shopper’s Manual. You can use a booklet to promote your products and services, as a way to create new streams of income, as a publicity generator, as a credibility builder and more.

Even if you don’t think of yourself as a writer, writing a booklet is simple. One format which works well is to answer frequently asked questions. Write down a list of the questions your customers ask (or should ask). You could write the answer to one question, couldn’t you? Then answer another and another–before you know it, you’ve got a booklet! Use one of the questions as your title, with a subtitle such as “The 47 things you must know about (subject).”

Booklets can be produced in small quantities at your local copy or print shop, usually for less than $1. Have covers printed on glossy paper or card stock. The copy shop can “bookletize” (fold, staple and trim) for you.

Your booklets can be sold at the back of the room when you speak, you can promote them on your web site, they can be an add-on item to your catalog, etc. You may even be able to place them in retail outlets and bookstores. Send them to media to get free publicity. Consultants can use them as a “leave behind” with potential clientswhile you won’t profit directly from the booklet, they can help you attract clients.

Booklets make good premium items. Sell them in quantity to companies or other professionals in your field to give or sell to their clients. Use booklets as a premium when your customers place an order of $50 or more. Make your booklet something that is only available as a bonus with purchase. Customers who want it will buy other items to get it.

And don’t forget to include in your bio sheet and press materials that you are “the author of (booklet title).” That gives you credibility and enhances your reputation and visibility.

Take the first step: Choose your topic. Then, write the booklet and take it to your local copy shop. You can be published in just days. Try it!

I for one am not going to let sky rocketing fuel prices change my plans for using and enjoying our RV. So, with that said and a motor home that averages 7 to 8 miles to a gallon I am forced to find ways to save on fuel rather than waiting and hoping that fuel prices will go down. After a little research I was surprised to learn how easy it can be to improve our fuel economy. Whether you’re towing a trailer or driving a motor home there are many ways to improve fuel economy. By performing some simple maintenance procedures and changing our driving habits a little we can save a significant amount of fuel.

One shocking discovery was that for each 5mph you go over 60mph is equivalent to paying 10 cents more per gallon. So if you’re traveling down the Interstate at 75 mph add 30 cents to the price on the pump! Wow, that can add up quick. If fuel prices drop to $2.65 a gallon you’ll still be paying $2.95 a gallon.

So how can we improve our fuel economy?

  • Talk to other RVers that have a motor home or tow vehicle and trailer similar to yours. Compare gas mileage. If there is a significant difference compare notes and try to determine what makes the difference.

  • Something as simple as a clean air filter can improve your fuel economy up to 10%.

  • Checking and adjusting your tire pressure to the proper pressure can increase fuel economy by 3%, not to mention preventing premature tire wear and failures or blowouts caused by over or under-inflated tires. Tires can look normal when they are seriously under-inflated. Use a quality air pressure gauge and check your tires when they’re cold, before traveling more than one mile.

  • Excessive idling wastes fuel. If you’re going to be sitting still for more than a couple of minutes shut the engine off.

  • Using overdrive whenever you can saves fuel by decreasing the engines speed.

  • Using the cruise control whenever possible saves fuel because it keeps the vehicle at a constant speed rather than variable speeds. This applies when you are driving on a relatively flat surface. Keep in mind the over 60 mph rule applies here too.

  • Keeping the vehicle tuned up and in top running condition saves fuel. A poorly tuned engine can lower fuel economy by 10 to 20%.

  • Poor emissions and / or a faulty oxygen sensor can cause a 40% reduction in fuel economy. Can you believe that? A 40% REDUCTION.

  • Following the recommended service and maintenance schedules will save you fuel.

  • Using the recommended grade of motor oil will increase fuel economy by 1 to 2%.

  • Using synthetic oils will increase fuel economy by 2 or more percent.

  • Speeding and rapid acceleration reduces fuel economy anywhere from 5 to 33% depending on your individual driving habits.

  • Added weight that you don’t need reduces fuel economy significantly. We’re all guilty of this one!

  • Only using the dash air conditioner when it is absolutely necessary will save a significant amount of fuel.

  • Use regular gas unless your owner’s manual specifies a higher octane gas. You’re just throwing money away when you pay the extra money for premium fuel.

We may have no control over the prices at the pump, but as you can see we have total control over getting the most out of the fuel we put in our tank.

Happy Camping!

Problems with humidity can lead to heartbreak for the classical (or other) guitarist. Excessive humidity or dryness can ruin an instrument probably quicker than you think.

You must always be aware of what conditions you are leaving your instrument, whether inside a guitar case or within a room or in the open. They should NEVER be left in the sun for any length of time.

When guitars are built they are usually in an environment where the relative humidity of the room is kept constant, roughly around 50%.

To be safe you ideally should keep your instrument around this mark though they are generally regarded as safe between 40%-70% as the upper and lower margins. Below or above this can be drastic for your instrument!

An interesting example of anecdotal evidence of problems with humidity I’ve heard is with Ramirez guitars.

Because they’re made in Spain where the humidity is often above the 50% mark and are shipped to areas where the humidity is much lower with dry winter conditions, they can easily develop cracks and slits throughout the guitar.

Having made an investment for such a beautiful guitar youd be mad not to invest in a relatively cheap system for keeping the humidity of your guitar constant, like a guitar humidifier case for example.

The damage caused by too much humidity or of drying out your instrument can range from cracks, splits and shrinkage to warping and even snapping of the wood.

There are many things you can do to prevent problems from the start. You know the old saying “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

I would recommend keeping your house, or wherever you keep your instrument, at a constant temperature and humidity all year round.

Next I would get a humidifier for my guitar case, whether one sold commercially which releases moisture slowly and attaches to the inside of your case, or a home-made one which could consist of a wet cloth (be careful not to let it touch your instrument as it may damage the wood).

Another thing to invest in is a “hygrometer”, which is an instrument that will keep track of humidity, or lack of it in your guitar case. As mentioned above, some guitar cases are made with these things as standard.

If you follow these few simple rules and keep an eye out for changes in temperature and humidity conditions it shouldn’t be hard to keep your instrument in good order.

I can’t tell you how many people contact me right after the New Year and want to quit smoking. Most of them tell me they are not sure how or why they ever got started, but they want to stop. They tell me that they don’t like the smell or that smoking makes their teeth and fingers yellow, but most of all what it is doing to their health. It is no secret that it deteriorates the heart and lungs, increases the aging process and amplifies your chances of getting cancer.

Many make numerous unsuccessful attempts at quitting and are ready to gain knowledge of how to end their habit and regain strong lungs naturally and permanently. These are some of the questions and answers that may help you get over the hump and on to bigger and better things. <

“Can I quash the harm that I have done to my body after smoking all this time?”

Absolutely! Your body is extremely dynamic and can mend once you cease smoking. As a matter of fact, in only one to three months after quitting, you will notice an improvement in your circulation and lung performance by 30%. Additionally, after 2-9 months, you will experience a recovery from coughing, sinus congestion, fatigue, and shortness of breath. If you stay clean for at least 10 years, studies indicate that your chances of contracting cancer will be diminished by 50%. If you add healthy living and time, your lungs will eventually recuperate.

“What mode of lifestyle changes will assist me?”

It is imperative that you recognize your linked activities and redirect your attention. For instance, most people relate smoking with particular occasions, such as cup of coffee, after a meal, drinking alcohol or talking on the phone. You need to alter this routine. Go for a walk after a meal, drink a cup of green tea while on the phone and maybe add a hobby to re-direct your attention. Of course, getting rid of all your smoking paraphernalia such as lighters, ashtrays, matches and cigarettes is paramountand a given.

Is there anything I can do to stop those annoying cravings?”

The nicotine in cigarettes incites the brain’s norepinephrine and serotonin systems. This amplifies the dopamine and generates pleasurable sensations. To combat this, you may want to utilize the amino acids tyrosine, tryptophan and 5-HTP (hydroxytryptophan, a derivative of tryptophan), which perform in the same way and can be used as a temporary interventions during your difficult times. You can find these supplements at your local health food store. In my article on substance abuse and addiction, I wrote about an herbal tincture called lobelia (lobelia inflate), which is an herb that falls into the same alkaloid family as nicotine. There is also a homeopathic remedy called Daphne indica that can assist you with cravingsespecially after eating a meal. Lastly, there are some authorities that feel that acupuncture sessions (six sessions within a 2-week period) that work on the central nervous system is effective at alleviating cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Likewise, hypnosis is akin to acupuncture.

“What supplements, herbs and exercises can I incorporate into my life to improve my health once I have quit?”

I recommend a high-quality multi-vitamin such as Life Extension’s Mix Caps, especially during the first six months after quitting. I like it because it has everything (including B vitamins) to help the body recover and rid itself of nicotine dependence. It also contains antioxidants that help repair tissue that is often damaged in smokers’ lungs, improve the nervous system and boost immunity. I also strongly urge you to add a good group of adaptogens to aid in combating the stress and anxiety associated with quitting. The results of quitting are usually difficult to predict, and depression is amazingly common. Jash Botanicals has Mood Mender to offer for just that problem. Finally, a good, clean fish oil assists in lung recovery by reducing inflammation. As far as exercises are concerned, obviously any exercise at all is great; but exercises that concentrate on the lungs are excellent. Yoga and breathing in the form of qigong expand the lung capacity and help to accelerate the healing process.

“What type of diet would help someone who wanted to quit?”

As I mentioned above, it is important to have a diet plentiful in antioxidants. That means that adding tons of fresh fruits and veggies is highly recommended. Fruits that have a lot of juice, such as melons and pears are especially helpful. It is interesting to note that in Chinese medicine, smoking is considered to be a habit that creates dry heat in the lungs. This may cause coughing and lung damage, so it is critical that the individual eat juicy fruits in large amounts to nourish the lungs and help restore function and balance. In addition to the above, I recommend two other items that are extremely helpful. The first is owning a good juicer, so that you can make yourself a glass of fresh juice that is jam-packed full of live enzymes that will assist with the healing process. Lastly, is the next best thing to fresh fruits and vegetables Juice Plus+® None of us get enough of the real thing, so I recommend taking this as part of a regular regime– Juice Plus+® provides the nutritional essence of 17 different fruits, vegetables, and grains in convenient and inexpensive capsule form.

Assistive technology, sometimes known as Adaptive Technology, includes devices or equipment used to maintain, increase or improve the abilities of individuals with disabilities. It is important to realize that assistive technology is NOT only computer programs or electronic devices. Since many people think of computers when thinking of technology, this is a common mistake. Assistive technology doesn’t have to be high-tech, but it should serve the purpose of “assistance” and can include anything from a stick one uses to reach for something to a walker or a wheelchair, or more complex items such as environmental controls or adapted vehicles.

This means that assistive technology has existed since the first homo sapiens picked up a branch to help himself over rough terrain. Sophisticated forms of assistive technology date back for centuries as well, as the 6th century saw an image of a wheelchair being carved in stone on a Chinese sarcophagus. Today, assistive technology is available to support many common disabilities. For example assistive technology may:

• Provide help with communication, such as speech, writing and typing aids

• Help people with difficulty accessing a computer with the standard keyboard and mouse. They include software programs such as a screen reader or on-screen keyboard and hardware, such as a head operated mouse.

• Provide exercises that stimulate train and assess cognitive functioning.

• Assist with daily living such as cooking, dressing, toileting, bathing, eating

• Provide assistance with hearing or visual limitations such as flashing light system for the doorbell, hearing aids and closed caption decoders for TV.

• Provide assistance with mobility such as wheelchairs, walkers and canes.

• Help with missing or disabled limbs such as artificial limbs, braces, supports

• Allow disabled individuals to take part in sporting or leisure activities.

• Support the muscular-skeletal systems and maintain positions needed to perform desired activities, such as moulded seats, lumbar supports, and modifications to wheelchairs would fall into this category.

• Improve access to print materials such as Braille devices and translators, and large button telephones.

If you are a disabled person or you know a disabled person, perhaps you have some thoughts about assistive technology. Perhaps you know of a cool disability product or you have some ideas about what you would like to see.

A new website has been created at http://www.NewDisability.com which is meant to be a platform for communication between the disabled community and the assistive technology industry. There is a forum where you can express your feedback about all kinds of innovative assistive technology. What are your experiences? What disability products are you using that you like? What disability equipment or disability aids would you like to see on the market? Don’t limit yourself to what you already know. Tell us what you would like to see.

Bonsai trees are grown and sculpted by millions of people across the globe. While bonsai is a common plant, the care a bonsai tree receives is different from other household plants. For this matter, those who own a bonsai tree much learn basic bonsai care techniques. This ensures longevity. Aside from caring and maintaining a bonsai tree, most bonsai owners gain pleasure from sculpting bonsai. This relaxing and rewarding hobby can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Pruning bonsai trees into shapes and characters is a remarkable talent that requires much practice.

New bonsai hobbyists should start with a beginner bonsai tree. These trees are available from bonsai nurseries or online bonsai stores. Typically, bonsai trees are miniature. However, it is possible to purchase a slightly larger tree. Beginner bonsai trees are very small. Depending on the bonsai style, the branches and leaves may bend forward, backward, or downward. As a bonsai hobbyist, you can sculpt the leaves into shapes and characters. If taking a beginner bonsai tree pruning class, you will learn basic techniques on pruning the leaves. Because it takes a few years to fully master bonsai pruning, be prepared to devote a lot of time to this craft.

Hobbyists can choose many different types of bonsai trees. Common bonsai plants include flowering cherry, pine, juniper, maple, and so forth. Moreover, the different types of bonsai trees are also classified by style. Popular bonsai styles include cascade bonsai trees, informal and formal bonsai trees, and raft style bonsai trees. Bonsai tree differences are identified by the direction of the branches and leaves. For example, formal and informal bonsai are positioned upright. However, informal bonsai have curvy branches. In addition, cascade bonsai trees consist of long leaves that grow downward. Lastly, raft style bonsai trees grow on their side.

Whereas locating a retailer that advertises bonsai trees for sale is easy, finding a good bonsai tree requires effort. In some areas, bonsai trees are commonly sold in grocery stores or plant stores. However, if you are looking for a quality bonsai tree, consider purchasing from a retailer that specializes in bonsai trees. These may include bonsai nurseries or online bonsai stores. At times, our worries and anxieties can overwhelm us. In
addition, our worries can distort our perception of what is
reality and what is not. Here is a brief list of techniques that
a person can use to help gain a better perspective on things
during our anxious moments.

When feeling anxious, stop what you are doing and try to do
something that will relax you. A person should take a deep
breath and try to find something to do for a few minutes to get
their mind off of the problem. A person could get some fresh
air, listen to some music, or do an activity that will give them
a fresh perspective on things.

Remember that our fearful thoughts are exaggerated and can make
the problem worse. A good way to manage your worry is to
challenge your negative thinking with positive statements and
realistic thinking. When encountering thoughts that make your
fearful or anxious, challenge those thoughts by asking yourself
questions that will maintain objectivity and common sense.

When overwhelmed with worry, a person may encounter a lot of
scary thoughts coming at them all at once. Instead of getting
upset, remember that these thoughts are exaggerated and are not
based on reality. From my interviews with various professionals,
I’ve learned that usually it is the fear behind the thoughts
that gets us worked up. Ignore the fear behind these thoughts,
and your worry should decrease.

Remember that all the worrying in the world will not change
anything. I realized that most of what we worry about never
comes true. Instead of worrying about something that probably
won’t happen, concentrate on what you are able to do. Everything
else you can leave in the hands of God.

As a Layman, I realize it is not easy to deal with all of our
fears. When your fears and anxieties have the best of you, try
to calm down and then get the facts of the situation. The key is
to take it slow. All you can do is to do your best each day,
hope for the best, and when something does happen, take it in
stride. Take things one step at a time, and things will work
out.

Design Resources& Education Info& World Of Webs28 May 2008 11:44 am

It is vital not to confuse usability with accessibility. The two are completely different and there is a tendency towards thinking of one as less important than the other. Both aspects must be taken seriously and many of the values of each aspect equally apply to the other.
Optimizing a site’s performance will help it to become more accessible, or at least aid in providing a more solid base from where to start. If many people are finding difficulty in using the website, then it will be very challenging for those with actually learning or physical disabilities to use. In the same way, the magnitude of consideration towards accessibility should be the same with usability.
Accessibility is a very important aspect taught in many web design courses and schools. The internet is a medium designed for the masses, and web 2.0 technology is making this more and more true everyday.
You should always put your users first. If you take away all of the elaborate design, one should still be able to find a web page that is user friendly. Forget all the fancy, flashy stuff and focus on giving the customer the best content possible when designing a website. A fully usable website is designed with the needs of the user in mind first - then the whims of the web designer can be added to attract users. Keep in mind that regardless of whether fashion or websites are being judged, the winner is always decided by how the final product functions.

One can get great prices online for a car or home but what if
you want to buy a computer, television or just a school uniform?
Provident loans are made to measure against fulfilling such
requirements. Provident loans basically came up against various
pawn shops that had emerged and charged exorbitantly high
interest rates for short term loans. And now they have grown to
become a significant part of the lending industry.

Providen
t Loans are offered as small unsecured loans for amounts
ranging from £50-£500. Unsecured provident loans have small
affordable payments which makes repayment easier. Also,
repayment for provident loans is fixed. Fixed repayments for
provident loans enable the borrowers to remain in control of
their finances. With fixed monthly repayments, borrowers can
safely plan their budget ahead. There are no other charges for
provident loans and the amount remains same till the end of the
term. Provident loans provide short term loans at reasonable
interest rates. Without the drawback of high interest rates,
provident loans become an alternative for those looking for
short term loans. Provident loans fail to turn into any
financial trap because interest rates are not high.

Provident loans also have a secured form. Secured provident
loans are applicable for loan amounts of £50,000 or above. Such
large amounts are not sanctioned without collateral so you would
have to find a security to place for provident loans. Provident
loans exhibit great flexibility when it comes to acceptable
collateral. The special trait of provident loans is that, they
accept gold and diamond jewellery as collateral. Also, gold
coins, watches and silver ware are accepted as collateral. Try
finding out what lenders accept as collateral for provident
loans.

There are three provident loans product which you can choose
from. These are - cash loan, easy shop card and shopping
vouchers. With provident loans you do not necessarily have to
take out loan amount in cash form. You can take the loan amount
in the form of “easy shop” card. Easy shop card enables you to
buy household goods of any sort. Shopping vouchers are from
major retailers so that you are able to buy the products you
have been looking for.

Provident loans include options for sub prime borrowers also.
Provident loans are applicable for borrowers with bad credit.
Bad credit history like late payment, CCJs, bankrupts,
discharged bankrupts, arrears, defaults can find provident
loans. Provident loans are affordable loans which make bad
credit borrower’s payback their loans in time and therefore
improve credit. Bad credit will cause you to pay interest rates
a little higher than market interest rate for provident loans.
Provident loans lenders are offered without credit check.

Locating provident loans online is much easier. There are many
options and alternatives to choose from. However, finding the
right provident loans lenders is important. Online provision
enables you to compare loans. Compare provident loans offers
that you get from various sites and then make your decision.
Decision should be based on interest rates offered and repayment
terms. Look out for any hidden fee and other charges before
settling for loans. Lenders make money from borrowers who have
bad credit history by charging unreasonably high interest rates.
Choose a provident loans lender who is not just operating
another pawn shop online. Make use of the online tool -
provident loans calculator. It is an easy to use calculator
which enables you to know the cost of provident loans for your
situation.

Loans term for provident loans is 6 months. Provident loans
providers usually have agents for collection of cash or
repayments for provident loans. In fact provident loans come
with door to door repayment options. Before you apply for
provident loans be clear in your mind about the fact that you
can afford the loan. With Provident loans you are putting your
personal property at stake. It is not advisable to pledge
something without knowing whether you can make repayments.
Provident loans are provided fast; in fact you can get provident
loans approved for within 24 hrs. Provident loans enable you to
face unexpected financial emergencies or make necessary
purchases fast.

The irony of life is that sometimes even £50 will do and exactly
at that very moment we can’t find even £50 in our pocket.
Provident loans are constantly making it easier for you to both
borrow money and repay it. Provident loans are ensuring that
pawn shops and high interest rates loans are not the only
alternatives for a person looking for short term loans.
Provident loans are indeed a unique money borrowing idea without
the obvious challenges and with the unavailable opportunity.

Ever since the dawn of “Yuppies” in the mid eighties demographic
and lifestyle acronyms have been common place in British lingo.
Amusing and occasionally less than politically correct these
acronyms reflect the British love for making fun of different
lifestyles and social groups. One area where these different
groups certainly differ is their preferred options towards
holidays and travel. UK short break and travel specialist http://www.superbreak.com
takes a look at the different types of holiday each group may
find itself drawn to.

D.I.N.K.Y - Double Income No Kids Yet

With a high disposable income but perhaps not a great deal of
free time due to heavy work commitments, the D.I.N.K.Y’s holiday
of choice is definitely the European city break. Heading
straight to the airport after work and heading to locations such
as Paris, New York or Barcelona is particularly appealing to a
group who are looking to fit as much into a 2-3 day break as
possible

O.R.C.H.I.D - One Recent Child, Heavily In Debt

With halcyon days of being a DINKY a mere distant memory and a
screaming child in tow, O.R.C.H.I.D’s holiday choices have
become great deal more limited. Extensive journeys have become
impossible and long periods of time away from home are difficult
with a young child. Therefore, the ideal solution would appear
to be a quality short break nearer to home. Cities such as
London and Edinburgh have an abundance of activities to suit any
taste and trips to relaxing country hotels can provide welcome
relief - just as long as it doesn’t go over budget!

S.I.T.C.O.M - Single Income Two Children Oppressive Mortgage

If they are lucky ten years down people can progress to the
dizzy heights of a S.I.T.C.O.M. The main achievements of the
past ten years have been adding to their offspring and
increasing their debt problem with a revenue sucking mortgage.
Unfortunately, for SITCOM’s their finances dictate the two weeks
in Vegas is not going to be practical. A holiday where the
children are going to be entertained without breaking the bank
is the priority. One excellent solution is to take advantage of
the burgeoning theme park industry in the UK which now boasts
some of the best parks, rides and hotel accommodation in the
world. Fantastic for the kids during the day and excellent
crche facilities to let the parents relax during the evening.

G.L.A.M - Greying, Leisured, Affluent, Married

By the time you reach GLAM you have achieved all in life.
Happily married, your children are off the payroll and you
finally have a disposable income again - best get it spent
before you become S.F.U (six feet under). With an abundance of
time on your hands you can start seeing a bit of the world and
take 2-3 week breaks in some of the best hotels the world has to
offer in exotic locations such as Dubai, Las Vegas or Rome.
